Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2025

Axonary LLC (“ClinzaQ,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of people who use our website, mobile apps, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and the rights available to you.
If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where required, notify you (for example, by email or in-product notice). Your continued use of the Services after any update means you accept the revised Policy.

WHO THIS POLICY COVERS

This Policy applies to:

  • Individuals who create an account, purchase a subscription, or otherwise use our USMLE question bank and study tools.
  • Institutional users (e.g., schools, programs) and their authorized learners. If your access is provided by an institution, that institution may have its own privacy terms that also apply.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

  1. Information you provide
    • Account and profile: name, email, password, graduation year, school/program, specialty interests.
    • Purchases: billing name, email, and payment method details (processed by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers).
    • Study activity: answers and explanations viewed, question/session history, notes, flashcards, bookmarks, practice test settings, time-on-task.
    • Support and communications: messages you send us, survey responses, referral information, and marketing preferences.
  2. Information collected automatically
    • Usage and device data: IP address, approximate location (derived from IP), device identifiers, browser type/version, OS, app version, pages/screens viewed, clicks, scrolls, session duration, crash logs.
    • Cookies and similar technologies: see “Cookies and Similar Technologies.”
  3. Information from third parties
    • Payment processors (payment status, fraud signals).
    • Analytics and performance tools.
    • If an institution provides access, we may receive roster data (name, email, cohort) and license status.

We do not intentionally collect special categories of personal data (e.g., health, biometric, racial/ethnic data).

HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We use personal information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Services (account creation, authentication, subscription management).
  • Deliver study features (question delivery, scoring, progress tracking, analytics, personalized recommendations).
  • Improve and develop the Services (diagnostics, troubleshooting, testing new features, usage analytics).
  • Communicate with you (service notices, transactional emails, product updates).
  • Send marketing with your consent or as otherwise permitted (you can opt out any time).
  • Prevent, detect, and respond to fraud, abuse, security risks, and violations of our Terms.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

Legal bases for EEA/UK users (GDPR): performance of a contract (to provide the Services), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Services, prevent abuse, and market to existing users), consent (where required for cookies/marketing), and legal obligations.

HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers/processors: hosting, customer support, email delivery, analytics, payment processing, and similar vendors under contract to process data on our behalf.
  • Institutional administrators: if your access is provided by an institution, we may share aggregated or user-level usage and progress data with that institution per our agreement.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
  • Legal and safety: where required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We may share de-identified or aggregated data that does not identify you.

COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES

We use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, and improve features. Where required, we present a consent banner and honor your selections. You can manage cookies in your browser; blocking some cookies may limit functionality.

“Do Not Track”: we do not respond to browser DNT signals. Use cookie controls and the choices described below.

ANALYTICS AND ADVERTISING

We use analytics tools to understand usage and improve the product. If we use remarketing/ads, they will be limited to promoting our own Services. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time and adjust cookie settings where offered.

DATA RETENTION

  • Account and study data: retained while your account is active. If you request deletion, we delete or anonymize within a reasonable period, subject to legal/operational needs (e.g., fraud prevention, accounting).
  • Transaction records: retained as required by tax and financial laws.
  • Backups/logs: retained for limited periods in U.S. data centers, then deleted or anonymized on rolling schedules.

DATA LOCATION AND INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

We host and process personal information in the United States using Amazon Web Services (AWS). If you access the Services from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to—and processed in—the United States.

We use Stripe to process payments. Stripe primarily stores payment information in the United States but may process certain payment-related data internationally (for example, to detect fraud or meet card network and compliance obligations).

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom, these transfers constitute international transfers of personal information. We rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (and UK Addendum, as applicable) along with technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information.

SECURITY

We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data (encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege practices, security monitoring). No system is 100% secure; you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.

YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

  1. U.S. state rights (including California CCPA/CPRA)

Depending on your state, you may have the right to: (i) know/access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect; (ii) delete personal information; (iii) correct inaccuracies; (iv) opt out of certain processing (e.g., targeted advertising or “sale”/“sharing” of personal information—practices we do not engage in); and (v) not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

How to exercise: see “Contact and Requests” below. We will verify your request and may require information to confirm your identity or authority.

  2. EEA/UK rights (GDPR)

You have the right to: access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can delete it.

ACCOUNTS PROVIDED BY INSTITUTIONS

If your access is provided by a school or training program, that institution may control or co-control certain data. We process institutional data under our agreement with the institution and may direct you to the institution for specific requests.

The Services may link to third-party sites or content we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
